Grady College partners with UGA’s Career Center to help students and alumni with their career planning and development. We also connect interested employers with our students and alumni for all recruiting and staffing needs.

We can help you list or find employment opportunities, improve your resume or job interviewing skills, and connect you with the right people at seminars, career fairs and alumni and employer networking events.

When to see a career consultant

There is a Grady College career consultant based in the UGA Career Center at Clark Howell Hall. Students can see the Grady Career consultant for major/career choice, resume and cover letter critiques, mock interview, personal statements, graduate school, and general career-related questions. Grady Students

Grady College students have a variety of programs and resources available to them to help network and find internships and entry-level jobs. Grady Career Services works closely with the Career Center to coordinate the following:

  • Career Fairs (AdPR Connection in the fall and Grady Career Fair in the spring)
  • Résumé, Cover Letter and Portfolio Critiques
  • Career Panels and Workshops
  • Employer Info Sessions and Campus Visits
  • Grady Jobs & Internships Newsletter (this newsletter, distributed every Tuesday, highlights internships and entry-level jobs in the communications industry. It is distributed to pre–Grady students, Grady students and recent graduates via the Grady Jobs listserv. Graduating Seniors: Update Your Post-Graduation Status

If you are a graduating senior, please share with us what you are doing post-graduation. The Career Outcomes Initiative provides insight into the employment and continuing education status of UGA graduates within an average of 6 months of their graduation date. Additionally, the data reports detailed employment, salary, and graduate school information.

  • Alumni Career Coaching: Career services are free and available to all UGA graduates for the duration of their career.
      • Young alumni who have graduated within the past two years may make an appointment with Whitney Denney, the Grady Career Consultant. Please contact her via the email above.
      • Alumni who have graduated two or more years ago may meet with the Director of Alumni Career Services, based in the UGA Career Center. Review the many resources available for every stage in your career here. Set up an alumni career coaching appointment time here.
  • Be a Mentor—Alumni and friends of Grady College are encouraged to participate in the UGA Mentor Program. We value the support of employers. There are several ways employers can get involved with Grady College to network with current students and future employees:

  • Post a job for any UGA student/alum: Post employment opportunities on Handshake, UGA’s online job board. Only UGA students and alumni have access to this, and posting is free! You can target your posting to students in Grady College majors and certificates. Email Samantha Meyer at sam610@uga.edu for detailed instructions and question.
  • AdPR Connection 2016 2020 Vision (Photos/Stephanie Moreno, s.moreno@uga.edu)Grady Jobs & Internships Newsletter:  Grady College students and recent alumni receive a weekly Grady Jobs and Internships email newsletter through the Grady Job Leads listserv. Posts are primarily pulled from Handshake, and will be left in until the deadline. To have your opening included in the next newsletter, email Samantha Meyer at sam610@uga.edu.
  • Host a Grady College student: UGA’s Intern For A Day program allows employers to host one or more students at your location. It is a great way to connect with students, source Grady talent and provide information about your industry.   • Connect with Students in the Journalism Building: We offer several options to connect with students Grady student right here in our building. Employers have conducted info sessions, drop-in recruiting hours, resume and LinkedIn reviews and on-campus interviews with Grady students in the Journalism Building.
